Biography

Sigismonda di Miceli is born and baptized 25 June 1803. She is the daughter of Innocenzo di Miceli and Castrenza Cannino. her godparents are Maestro Francesco and Sigismonda di Bella, a married couple.

Sigismonda appears, age four (b. 1803), in the 1807 stato delle animo, a Church census. She lives with her parents, paternal grandmother, and seven of her sisters and brothers, in the terza vanella (the third alley) from the Canzoneri church. Their neighbors include the families of Simone di Miceli, Francesco di Miceli, and Gaetano Oliveri.

Sigismonda's known marriages are:

  1. Calogero Palumbo on 10 January 1819. Her parents are both still living.[1][2] Calogero dies on 18 July 1837 at the reported age of 45.[3]
  2. Don Leoluca Gennusa, son of Don Antonino Gennusa and Donna Rosa Boscarelli, on 16 June 1838[4]
  3. Maestro Giovanni Provenzano, the widower of Giuseppa Cutrara and son of Maestro Leoluca Provenzano and Giacoma Trapani, on 19 September 1841[5]

Calogero Palumbo, 46 (b. 1788), and his wife, Sigismonda, 31 (b. 1803) live in the SE of town in 1834.[6]
